To lead a successful PR campaign for your business, you should create a master list of blogs and magazines you'd like to pitch your products and services to. Many of you already do this but your list may just include the indie and fashion blogs. To do this, would be to miss out on a huge potential target audience.

In addition to the obvious publications you'd want on your media list, think outside the box. Sure, you want to hit up fashion bloggers if you design dresses, and home decor bloggers if you make wall decals, but don't stop there. Think about other press outlets (and audiences) that might appreciate your products. If you design jewelry made from old computer parts, you should be pitching tech blogs. If you design pot holders, don't stop at home decor publications, pitch food blogs and magazines. If you design totes with cats and dogs on them, pitch pet related publications. The point is, don't limit yourself to the world of indie blogs, make yourself a list of all the potential audiences that might enjoy your products and then a list of publications that reach those audiences.
