What exactly is cross-promotion?
It's when two businesses with a similar customer audience and non-competing products join forces to promote their businesses. The idea is that you can do double the promotion for FREE.

What are some examples of this?
* Co-sponsoring a contest with another business
* Announcing a promotion on your mailing list, Facebook or Twitter for a parnter and having them do the same for you
* Blogging about a cross-promotion partner's business on your company website and having them do the same for you.
* Splitting the cost of a paid print ad in a magazine with another business
* Trading promotional fliers with another business

How do I select an appropriate partner?
The best cross promotion partner is a business with a customer audience similar to your own who sells non-competing products (for example a jewelry company and a handbag company might be a good pairing since they both have a style-concious, female audience). The other component to a good match is a similar reach. If you only have 100 subscribers on your mailing list, a company with 1000 subscribers probably isn't going to get an equitable deal in working with you.

So how do I actually find a partner?!?!
Drop me an email and I'll be your cross-promotional cupid. Please include the words CROSS PROMOTION in the subject line. In the email tell me:

* What kind of business you have (jewelry, cosmetics, clothing, etc) and a link to your shop or website or blog
* What kind of cross-promotional activities you're interested in
* Statistical Data: What kind of reach you have (# of website page views/month, # of list subscribers, # of facebook fans, # of Twitter followers, whatever you think is relevant)

I will send emails to everyone that's interested in doing this and introduce you to a business (or businesses) that would be a good fit for you. All the statistical data you send me will be kept PRIVATE. All I'll do is tell you the names of the companies you'd be a good match for and how to contact them. You guys can work out the details.
